This is the employment my soul delights in....

Something occurred to me on the way to work this morning- sort of one of those AHA! moments. If you are not familiar with "Sh*t My Dad Says" then I highly suggest that you check it out on Twitter. It is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. (By the way, that's my dad on the right.) Long story short (if I could ever possibly tell a long story short) this guy is 29 and lives with his 74 year old dad. Now everyone knows when you hit your 70's you start spouting out some kooky stuff (or maybe you don't know that) (but you do). So, this guy just types up all the crazy stuff his dad says to him and posts it to Twitter. Right now he has over 1 million followers (1,495,347- to be exact) AND a book coming out! Pretty good little thing to stumble into!
So, my thought is this: what if every one of us has been given one thing in our lives that is the key to our wealth, happiness and means to live but the thing of it is that it is so obscure that we may never see it? I believe it is found in what we truly enjoy- and that is the true beginning of our success- happiness. Now, while many of us could duplicate the posts to Twitter on Sh*tMyDadSays, but the point is- it isn't OUR key. It was his key- something he really enjoyed in his life. I rack my brain every day wondering what is it in my life that is the key to everything? What do I truly love? There are so many things to choose from.
The title of this blog is from a tiny plaque hanging from the doorknob of my bathroom. The plaque was purchased for it's larger saying "She dreams of mermaids and motorcycles and meeting a man who can dance." Over time I came to appreciate and be inspired by the artwork on it. I discovered the saying in tiny little lettering only after I had owned it awhile. "This is the employment my soul delights in..." Having an artistic soul, working part time and being a part time artist this little saying holds so much meaning. Every morning I see it and it inspires me to work toward what I really enjoy and let go of the mundane. Sure I have to put up with the real world, but only for awhile. Maybe it is only part time for now, but a girl can dream!

The Gift of Love- Donating

Well, it's been a long road since the last time that I posted anything. It is true that whatever God takes away, he gives back so much more! I have since moved to the beach into a tiny little apartment. "But it's at the beach..." Which is the phrase that follows any negative connotation about the tiny apartment.
I have had to do a lot of paring down of my things which has led to much gifting to charities. What a great feeling that is! Things I swore I would never part with are long gone now! And it just feels good to know that so many people will benefit from not only the items themselves, but from the money that was used to purchase the items. Love it!
Many of you may not know, but all of our items are purchased from local charities. When you purchase items from us you can know that your money is used to give back to people who really need it. I also encourage all of you to donate to your favorite charity when you are finished with any items. Pick one out that is close to your heart and find out where you can go to drop off your items.
The more you give, the more you get. It may not come back to you in tangible items, but you sure will benefit from the good feeling you get!
